On arrival at Indira Gandhi International airport terminal, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. (check-in time is 1400 hrs/ early check-in is subject to availability of rooms and at the discretion of the hotel). DELHI India’s capital and a major gateway to the country, contemporary Delhi is a bustling metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds – the ancient with the modern. Begin your day with a guided tour of the Old City of ‘Shahjahanabad’. Your introduction to the city will start with a visit to Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, drive past the Red Fort (Remains closed on Monday) - the magical monument in red sandstone built at the pinnacle of the Mughal Empire. From here proceed by bicycle rickshaws through the bustling streets to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Asia built by Shahjahan. Continue on a guided tour of New Delhi, which reflects the legacy the British left behind. You will visit Qutub Minar, the tallest stone tower in India built to establish the might of Islam and onset of Muslim rule in India and Humayun’s tomb, the first great example of a new distinctive style, which developed to become the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty. The tour also includes a drive past the imposing India Gate (War Memorial Arch), the Parliament buildings and the Rashtrapati Bhawan (the President’s residence). Overnight at the Hotel, New Delhi DAY 03: DRIVE DELHI – JAIPUR (250 Kms – approx 5 hrs drive) Meals Included – Breakfast This morning you would be driven to the pink city of Jaipur (260 kms/ 7-hour drive approx.). Jaipur is often known as the ‘pink city - the city is a beautiful symphony of the history with the present; well expressed in the planned, gridded network of streets juxtaposed with a bustling maze of by-lanes and bazaars, the traditional artisanal crafts offset against contemporary arts. Overnight at the Hotel, Jaipur DAY 04: IN JAIPUR Meals Included – Breakfast Full-day sightseeing of Amber Fort and Jaipur city. An exciting day awaits you as begin your sightseeing tour with a photo visit at the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - a five-storied wonder with a spectacular pyramidal facade and overhanging windows with latticed screens, domes and spires. Continue your tour as you drive to the ancient capital of Amer to see the fabulous Amber Fort, situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur city, surrounded by fortified battlements. Maharaja Mansingh, Mughal Emperor Akbar’s most successful General, started the construction of Amber Fort in the 17th century. Before the City Palace was constructed in Jaipur, Amber was the seat of power. The fort is surrounded by fortified battlements and overlooks the Moat Lake. Ruins and remains are spread over the Aravalli hills and sprawling crenellated walls lattice the surrounding area. At the foot of the hill you will be taken on the Elephant back (subject to availability failing by jeep ride up to the main gate). Tour the chambers and hallways of the palace, famous for the excellence of its design and decoration. Within the complex is Ganesh Pol, an imposing gateway painted with the images of the elephant-headed god, Ganesh. The merging of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles is captured in the Sukh Niwas and Jas Mandir apartments, and the Charbagh garden with its perfectly proportioned landscaping. Pierced screen windows offer views from different vantage points and shimmering mirrors encrust the walls of Sheesh Mahal.

The highlights of the tour include a visit to the City Palace Museum, which has a superb collection of Rajasthani costumes, and armory of Mughals and Rajputs including swords of different shapes and sizes with chiseled handles. Many antiques and artifacts belonging to the ruling family are housed here, including a collection of weaponry. It also has an art gallery with an excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets, royal paraphernalia and rare astronomical works in Arabic, Persian, Latin and Sanskrit. Proceed to the awe-inspiring Jantar Mantar Observatory, a stone astrological and astronomical Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 18th century. Later enjoy a short walk in the colourful bazaars of Jaipur. Overnight at the Hotel, Jaipur DAY 05: DRIVE JAIPUR-AGRA (250 Kms – approx. 5-hour drive) Meals Included – Breakfast In the morning, you will be driven to the Mughal city of Agra. On arrival in Agra, explore the Agra Fort (Tonga Ride would be provided while on the way somewhere close to the Fort), an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. Shah Jahan, the Taj's creator, spent the last years of his life imprisoned at the fort by his son Aurangzeb. It was built in the late 1560`s by their predecessor, Akbar, with later embellishments by Jahangir, his son, and Shah Jahan, his grandson. Late in the evening proceed for Sunset visit to the legendary Taj Mahal (Remains closed on Friday) - Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, a masterpiece in marble and one of the world’s most famous landmarks. As the sun sets, a chaste and secretive image of the Taj starts to emerge, casting a very soft light illuminating the contours of this enchanting monument in marble. Referred to as one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal in Agra is the epitome of tourism in India and is celebrated for its architectural magnificence and aesthetic beauty. A symphony in white marble, a tribute to eternal love, it was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

You will be met by our representative at Jhansi Railway Station; thereafter you will be driven to Orchha (20 Kms / 45 minutes). Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Later this afternoon proceed for a visit to Orchha Village. Orchha's fort complex, the entrance of which is a multi-arched bridge, has three impressive palaces placed in an open quadrangle. The first of these is the Jahangir Mahal, built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century, to mark the occasion of Emperor Jahangir’s visit to the city. Fragile chhatries and ornate trellis work heighten the effect of artistic richness. The Raj Mahal was built by Madhukar Shah, the religious predecessor of Bir Singh Ju Deo. The interiors boast of intricate murals, depicting various religious themes. The Rai Praveen Mahal was built for the famous musician-poetess paramour of King Indramani, Rai Praveen, as a mark of admiration by Emperor Akbar. There are 14 cenotaphs or chhatris to the rulers of Orchha, across the Kanchana Ghat of the Betwa River.

Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Later your tour begins with a visit to the Eastern Group of temples. This group comprises of two historic Jain temples – the Adinath Temple lavishly embellished with sculpted figures, and the Parsvanath Temple, the largest Jain temple, sculpted with charming detail. There are other shrines such as the Vamana Temple with apsaras in sensuous poses, and the Javari Temple that has a richly-carved doorway. Continue to the Western Group of temples which are entirely Hindu, and constitute some of the finest examples of Chandela art at its peak. The largest being the Kandhariya Mahadev dedicated to Lord Shiva, followed by a granite temple - Chaunsath Yogini. The Chitragupta Temple is dedicated to the Sun God, while the Vishwanath Temple sports a three-headed image of Brahma – the Creator of the Universe. The Lakshmana Temple is superbly decorated, while the Devi Jagdambi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Other temples in the Western Group include the Varaha Temple with a nine-foot high boar-incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Matangeshwara Temple with an eight-foot high lingam, and the Brahma Temple. Overnight at the Hotel, Khajuraho DAY 08: FLY KHAJURAHO-VARANASI (Domestic Flight) Meals Included – Breakfast Morning you will be met by a representative at your hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to Varanasi. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to Dashashwamedha Ghat along the River Ganges to witness the special Hindu Aarti ceremony performed at the Ghats.

Halt your boat right at the steps for the best view. The presiding priests stand on a wooden chauki in the water. To the chant of Sanskrit mantras, and the clash of cymbals and drums, the river is worshipped with flowers, incense, sandalwood, milk and vermilion. First the blazing camphor lamp and then the many- flamed Aarti lamps are raised high and then arched back to the water, the dark river reflecting the golden flames as Ganga accepts the worship. (Note: The Car/bus will go only up to a certain point in the city from where Cycle Rickshaws have to be used to reach the venue for Aarti ceremony). Overnight at the Hotel, Varanasi DAY 09: IN VARANASI Meals Included – Breakfast Early morning enjoy a boat cruise on the river Ganges (subject to water level/ weather conditions). Varanasi's principal attraction is the string of bathing ghats, which line the western ghats of River Ganges. The spectacular 4 Km sweep of the Ghats is a unique sight, best viewed at dawn. An early morning boat ride presents an incredible scene as the multitudes of devotees come to the river to pay homage to the Sun God. Pass the bathing ghats where thousands of pilgrims immerse themselves in the holy water of the Ganges River and the burning ghats where cremations are conducted. On return, visit the bazaars (local market) and Kashi Vishwanath Temple – the most sacred of the shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. Return to your hotel for breakfast.

Located about 10 kms from Varanasi, it is one of the important Buddhist centers. It is the site where Lord Buddha had preached his first sermon or in religious language, set in motion the Wheel of Law (Maha – Dharmachakra – Pravartan) enshrining the principles of his teaching into laws. Several Buddhist structures were raised at Sarnath between 3rd century BC and 11th century AD and today it presents the most expansive ruins amongst places on the Buddhist trail. Overnight at the Hotel, Varanasi DAY 10: FLIGHT VARANASI – DELHI DEPARTURE (by Flight) Meals Included – Breakfast Morning at leisure. Check-out from your hotel at 1200 hrs (Late check-out will be subject to availability of rooms/ at the discretion of the hotel). Later you will be met by a representative at your hotel and assisted transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. DELHI With a history as a capital, Delhi has seen the tides of several rulers from those that people the pages of the epic poem, Mahabharata to the Tughlaq and Mughal empires from Persia, from the imperial colonial armies to the present-day government. Looted, plundered, and resurrected over the years, Delhi emerges from the ashes of her past to take her place in the world as a global capital – politically, culturally and commercially. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at the Hotel, New Delhi DAY 02: IN DELHI Meals Included - Breakfast Proceed for Full day combined city tour of Old and New Delhi. In Old Delhi you will visit the 17th century Jama Masjid and walk through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. You have the option of taking a rickshaw ride through these bazaars. Also visit the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort, the Red Fort for a photo stop. Visit Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Visit the Presidential Palace, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised in Honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. Overnight at the Hotel, New Delhi DAY 03: DRIVE DELHI – MANDAWA (280 kms – approx. 6 hrs drive) Meals Included - Breakfast Today morning after breakfast, you will be driven from Delhi to Mandawa a remote feudal principality in the centre of Shekhawati region. Upon arrival, proceed to check into your hotel. This afternoon, you will explore this storybook town of Mandawa known for its colourful frescoes on a wide variety of subjects ranging from religious to the erotic; from copies of popular English prints to witty social satire rendered in the inimitable style of local artist. Every home here is adorned with gaily-painted murals that illuminate the arid landscape. Overnight at Hotel, Mandawa DAY 04: DRIVE MANDAWA – BIKANER (200 kms – approx 4 hrs drive) Meals Included - Breakfast After buffet breakfast, you will be driven from Mandawa to Bikaner. Upon arrival check into your hotel. Afternoon, you will proceed for a sightseeing tour of Bikaner. Visit Junagarh Fort, one of the most interesting forts in Rajasthan, with its sumptuously decorated interiors. Built in 1588 by Raja Rai Singh it is unusual in the sense that it was one of the few major forts of Rajasthan that was not built on a hilltop. Instead, it was built on the desert plains; its rugged sandstone bastions and graceful pavilions and balconies are silhouetted against the sky.

Set amid rolling sand dunes, this farm is set up to produce superior strains of camels both for domestic haulage as well as, even today, for military use. Overnight at Hotel, Bikaner DAY 05: DRIVE BIKANER – JAISALMER (Surface – 330 kms – approx 7 hrs drive) Meals Included - Breakfast After buffet breakfast, you will be driven from Bikaner to Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer, the golden beauty etched in yellow sandstone, standing tall against miles of gleaming sand. Founded in 1156 AD by Maharawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer’s location kept it almost untouched by outside influences and even during the days of the Raj, Jaisalmer was the last to sign the Instrument of Agreement with the British. Upon arrival proceed for check-in at your hotel following which remainder of the day will be at leisure. Overnight at Hotel, Jaisalmer DAY 06: IN JAISALMER Meals Included – Breakfast After buffet breakfast, proceed for a city tour of Jaisalmer. You will walk up to the Fort, which dominates the town. Built in 1156, it is one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan. About a quarter of the old city's population resides within the fort walls, which have 99 bastions around the circumference. Within the fort are a fine group of Jain temples built between the 12th and 15th centuries, many containing ancient manuscripts. Walk through Jaisalmer’s narrow streets dotted with ornately decorated Hindu and Jain temples.

Late afternoon, drive to Khuri/Sam Sand Dunes for a camel back ride into the desert to watch the sun set on this golden desert city, emitting a lustrous glow off the desert sand. Camel Safari is one of the unique ways to explore small villages in Rajasthan. Return to the hotel after your tour. Overnight at Hotel, Jaisalmer. DAY 07: DRIVE JAISALMER – OSIYAN (230 kms - approx 4-5 hrs drive) Meals Included – Breakfast After buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven from Jaisalmer to Osiyan. Today it is desert oasis with 16 Brahamanical and Jain temples, beautifully sculpted and designed, most of which have stood ravages of time. The place is highlighted by its camel ride at the time of the sunset. Afternoon is at leisure for camp activities. Overnight at Camp, Osiyan DAY 08: OSIYAN – JODHPUR (60 kms – approx 1 hour drive) Meals Included – Breakfast After buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven from Osiyan to Jodhpur. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel. The old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by a wall 10km long, which was built about a century after the city was founded. From the fort you can clearly see where the old city ends and the new begins. The old city is fascinating jungle of winding streets of great interest to wander around. Eight gates lead out from the walled city. Later visit Mehrangarh Fort (citadel of the Sun) that evokes the very spirit of the Rathores, the ruling local Rajput clan. Visit its various palaces with their delicate friezes and respective museums, displaying treasures of the royal family. Following visit of the fort, proceed on an exhilarating walk through the old city of Jodhpur. The walk will take you as far as the old market from which point you will be transported by Tongas, or horse-drawn carriages, back to the hotel. North of Meherangarh Fort, and connected to it by road, Jaswant Thanda is a pillared marble memorial to the popular ruler Jaswant Singh II (1878-95), who purged Jodhpur of dacoits, initiated irrigation systems and boosted the economy. The cenotaphs of members of the royal family who have died since Jaswant are close by his memorial; those who preceded him are remembered by chhatris at Mandor. This south-facing spot is also the best place from which to photograph the fort, looming above the sheer rocky Meherangarh plateau.

Kanchipuram famous for its particularly fine silk saris, embellished with stunning patterns. Thereafter visit the local homes of the weavers and watch them create magic out of silk thread into saris. In the afternoon we will visit the Boudhanath, 8 kilometers east of Kathmandu City is one of the biggest in the world of its kind and one of the most imposing landmarks in Kathmandu. It stands with four pairs of eyes in the four cardinal direction keeping watch for righteous behavior and human prosperity. This Buddhist stupa was built by King Man Dev at the advice of Goddess Mani Jjogini. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. The stunningly picturesque Thimphu Valley is immersed in this charming Mountain Fortress of the Gods overlooking the mesmerizing Wang Chu River. This morning we start the day with an excursion to the Nuwara Elyia, a suggestive mountain station already known at the time of the British colony (1889 meters above sea level). Lunch at a restaurant during the excursion (on direct payment basis). NUWARA ELIYA Once a favorite British mountain resort, still preserves the imperial vestiges: a cocktail of Georgian and Tudor architecture, gabled roofs, immaculate lawns with rose bushes and moss-covered tombstones.

Overnight at the Hotel, Kandy DAY 05: DRIVE KANDY / MATALE / ANURADHAPURA / HABARANA (95 kms –approx 2 hour drive) Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner This morning after breakfast we depart for Habarana with enroute stop at a spice plantation at Matale and a batik factory. Thereafter in the afternoon we visit the Anuradhapura, the first Sinhalese capital. This saintly city was entrenched around a cutting from the 'tree of enlightenment' which is supposedly the Buddha's fig tree. ANURADHAPURA The first Sinhalese capital, from the 4th century BC up to the 10th century AD. Currently belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is located 205 km north of the current capital Colombo, in the Central Northern Province of Sri Lanka, on the slopes of the historic Malvathu Oya. At present, most of the sites here remain in use solely as temples and holy places. Overnight at the Hotel, Habarana. Continue on in the afternoon to visit of Polonnaruwa (also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), Sri Lanka’s second most ancient kingdom, Polonnaruwa, became the capital of Sri Lanka following the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 AD. Built by King Parakramabahu I, this urban green city has seen numerous civilisations journeying through this kingdom including the Cholas, South Indian Hindu and Buddhist Sinhalese, between the 12th and 13th centuries. Brimming with archeologically treasures, the city is dotted with temples, shrines, palaces and ruins. Explore the royal palace from the period of King Parakramabahu I (1153 – 1186) Overnight at the Hotel, Habarana. DAY 07: DRIVE HABARANA / DAMBULLA / COLOMBO (180 kms –approx 3.5 hrs drive) Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner In the morning we start the day with the visit of Dambulla, DAMBULLA Located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, 148 km north-east of Colombo and 72 north of Kandy. The main attractions of the city are the large, well-preserved monasteries, which make up the best-preserved rock temple of Sri Lanka. There are over 80 caves in the whole area, but the main attractions are scattered in 5 different caves, and include statues and paintings. Almost all of these works refer to Buddha and his life: there are a total of 153 statues of the Buddha, 3 of kings of Sri Lanka and 4 of other gods or gods. The murals cover an area of 2,100 m². Also, we will have the panoramic tour of the capital (residential and commercial areas, Pettah bazaar, Government Palace ...).

COLOMBO The capital of Sri Lanka and the largest city and main port of the country, brings together all the colors and cultures that make up the island, merging them into a mosaic of markets, gardens and buildings of all kinds, all close to a narrow strip of waterfront. It is therefore a fascinating city, with a happy union between East and West, between past and present, and with a special charm. Attractions include Pettah, the lively local bazaar, Buddhist temples and Hindu temples, the historic Wolvendaal Church, the main residential area - with its famous "cinnamon gardens" - and the historic Fort district, with its buildings from the colonial era.
